Iran's Telegram ad market — crypto, forex, gold signals in April 2026

Iran is one of the world's most Telegram-dependent markets. The service is officially filtered inside the country, yet 45–50M monthly active users reach it daily through MTProto proxies and consumer VPNs — which means Telegram-native advertising has become a primary channel for domestic e-commerce, crypto exchanges, forex-tipster communities, and gold-signal groups. After six weeks indexing public broadcast channels with 1 000+ subscribers, here is the April 2026 breakdown.

Scope of the indexing#

• 64 Persian-language broadcast channels, hand-verified, audience ≥ 1 000 subscribers.
• Payment rails captured: TON cabinets + EUR cabinets.
• Time window: impressions recorded 2026-03-01 through 2026-04-19.
• Excluded: private channels, VPN-gated chats, sub-1 000-subscriber channels.

What the sample covers#

Three things unique to the Iranian market#

1. Rial-to-USDT P2P is the dominant crypto ad pattern. Unlike Turkey or Brazil where exchanges advertise tradable pairs, Iranian exchanges advertise Rial-to-USDT OTC desk flows. Inflation and currency devaluation make USDT hold more "hedge" than "speculative" framing.
2. Gold-signal channels cycle daily with IRR-gold ratio. Telegram-native gold signals publish the Rial-gold ratio morning and evening. Tipsters monetize via paid access (lifetime Telegram link) and run sponsored promotions for each other.
3. VPN flood is structural. ~16% of ad impressions in the Iranian Telegram index are VPN/MTProto-proxy ads — a share unmatched anywhere else globally. Creative copy leans on uptime claims («99.9% uptime»), pricing in Rial, and jump-start promos.

Creative format notes#

• Video share minimal. Unlike Brazil (43% video), Iranian crypto creatives are almost entirely text+banner. Bandwidth via VPN is constrained; advertisers respect the ceiling.
• Short-form CTAs dominant. «سفارش» (order) and «عضویت» (subscribe) account for ~70% of button text. Persian speakers respond to terse verbs.
• Private-channel funnels are standard. Most advertisers use sponsored messages to drive users into a private paid channel or a Telegram bot — very few direct-to-website CTAs because VPN routing makes external sites unreliable.

Payment rails nuance#

Iranian payments are ZarinPal / Rial inside the country, USDT-TRON for international. Advertisers we index show both — the mix tells you whether they're targeting domestic-only or the international-Persian diaspora.

Creative Format Summary#

Private channel funnels are the dominant conversion path — sponsored message → bot or private channel invite. External web CTAs are secondary because VPN routing makes load times unreliable for most users.

Channels added by hand from public directories + contacts.search. Metadata refreshed via channels.getFullChannel every 30 minutes; impressions captured via channels.getSponsored through gramesh. No private-chat scraping, no VPN-gated content accessed.
