Key Creative Patterns#

Token airdrop farming was the dominant driver of ZK-ecosystem ad volume in 2024. zkSync's ZK token airdrop (June 2024) preceded a massive ad campaign targeting users to bridge assets and perform transactions for eligibility. The pattern repeated with Starknet (STRK), Scroll, and Linea airdrops.

Developer ecosystem building is the secondary angle: "Build on the most scalable ZK platform," "Deploy your EVM contracts — zero changes needed," "Sub-cent transactions, Ethereum security." These target crypto developers and DeFi protocol teams.

Speed + cost comparisons against Ethereum mainnet and competing L2s: "10,000 TPS. $0.001 transactions. ZK security." Charts comparing zkSync vs Optimism vs Arbitrum fees appear in banner ads.

Geographic Distribution#

English, Chinese, and Korean channels dominate ZK-ecosystem ad volume — reflecting the global developer and airdrop-farming community. Starknet shows higher-than-average Arabic channel presence due to Middle East developer grant programs. Russian DeFi channels receive significant zkSync and Scroll advertising.

2025–2026 Trends#

Post-airdrop phases shifted ZK ads toward DeFi ecosystem growth: "10 protocols built on zkSync — trade, lend, earn." Competition between zkSync and Starknet intensified, with each running head-to-head comparison ads. The launch of ZK-powered identity products (zkEmail, zkLogin) opened new non-DeFi advertising angles.
